Micro-Business Update

The SEDA program (means “push me up” in Swahili) is the micro-business program I helped to start in Kenya with the widows, farmers, poultry groups and tailors in the region of Vihigia (Rural Western Kenya), Eldorett, and Nakura (cities in Kenya).

We visited in March of 2009 to see the various groups and how they were doing after receiving their loans.  Many were affected due to the drought they had this spring.  It caused a downward spiral effect in which most businesses were hit hard.  However, the members of the SEDA program were very encouraged by our visit eager to share with us their businesses, successes and challenges.

They were so honored to have us visit them especially those in the remote parts of the village.  I even received a live chicken as a means of showing gratitude.  It really humbled me as that was probably their meal for the next few days, yet they were so eager to give it to me.  Kenyans are so gracious and I have learned so much from them.

Thank you so much for all of your support.  If you would like to know more, please contact us at 303-917-3057 or email april@momjobseeker.com

Here are a couple of businesses we visited.
